A referral from your GP is the easiest way to see Dr Padhye, and it’s the only way to claim Medicare rebates for your consultation fees. This page covers how to ask for one, and what your GP can send through.
Why you need a referral
A current referral from your GP (or another medical specialist) is required for Medicare to rebate part of your specialist consultation. Without one, you can still see Dr Padhye, but the full consultation fee will be out of pocket.
GP referrals are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Specialist-to-specialist referrals are valid for three months. Indefinite referrals can sometimes be issued for chronic conditions.
How to ask your GP
Most GPs are happy to refer you to Dr Padhye if you ask. You can mention:
- Your symptoms (what’s bothering you and how long it has been going on)
- What you’ve already tried
- If you have a preference for a sub-specialty (sinus, sleep apnoea, paediatric ENT)
- Any relevant imaging, sleep studies or hearing tests you’ve already had
What your GP can send through
Your GP can send the referral to Dr Padhye’s rooms via any of the following:
- Healthlink EDI:
entsthau - Fax: 08 8363 3083
- Email: admin@entsa.com
- Post: 30 Flinders Street, Kent Town SA 5067
Sending the referral in advance helps us book you on the right clinic day, as not every service runs every day. Once it’s received, our reception team will be in touch to schedule your appointment.
